Full-Service Landscaping in Galisteo

Evergreen Landscape Pros is a full-service landscaping company serving Galisteo, NM, and nearby rural communities. We do landscape design, planting, irrigation, stonework, fencing, and ongoing maintenance for homes and commercial properties.

Maybe you have a house off NM-41, a horse property in the basin, or an old adobe in the village. Either way, we can help you plan work that fits your land and how you use it.

Many Galisteo properties have several acres of native grass and piñon-juniper, and only part of that needs landscaping. We focus on the spots where good design makes the biggest difference: around your home, the places you use every day, and where water matters most.

We’re based at 105 Cienega Street in Santa Fe and have been serving the Galisteo Basin since 2019. Our local knowledge ensures your project reflects the area’s unique climate, terrain, and traditions, delivering lasting results.

Local Conditions

What Makes Landscaping in Galisteo Different?

Good landscaping in Galisteo, NM starts with a walk around your property. We look at wind, slope, soil, and water, then build a landscape design that fits. Our landscaping services in Galisteo cover everything from planting to hardscaping. The Galisteo Basin has its own climate, land, and building traditions, and they change how an outdoor space should be designed.

Limited water

Private wells and how fast they recover decide how much irrigation a property can support.

Historic architecture

Older adobe homes and village properties do best with fitting materials, the right scale, and careful installation.

Strong winds

Open ground affects where patios go, how fences are built, how trees get established, and whether soil stays put.

Large parcels

It usually makes more sense to focus improvements around the house and the places you use most than to landscape a whole acreage.

Remote access

Long driveways and distance from suppliers can affect scheduling, equipment, and cost.

Native vegetation

Existing grassland, piñon, and juniper are beautiful, hold the soil in place, and cut down on the watering you need to do.

Wells & Water

Water-Wise Landscaping for Properties on Wells

Saving water is central to good landscaping in Galisteo. Many rural properties run on private wells, so you have to plan irrigation around the water you really have.

For xeriscaping, we usually divide a property into three zones:

Landscape ZoneRecommended Approach
Near the homeConcentrated planting and irrigated outdoor living areas
Transitional areasHardy shrubs, adapted grasses, and limited supplemental watering
Outer propertyPreserved native grassland and existing piñon-juniper

Native Plants for Northern New Mexico

Depending on soil, elevation, and exposure, good choices include chamisa, four-wing saltbush, Apache plume, blue grama, sand dropseed, penstemon, and winterfat.

We also try to save healthy, established trees. Mature native plants give a property its character, and they can take decades to replace.

Village Properties

Working In and Around the Historic Village

Galisteo’s historic adobe buildings and village streets call for a careful, respectful approach.

For village properties, we often suggest materials and features that fit in with what’s already there:

Older adobe walls need extra care. Standard fasteners can damage them, so we build fences, trellises, and attached features with the right connections or separate supports.

Some properties may fall under a historic district or local design rules. Check the guidelines before ordering materials or starting construction.

Structure & Boundaries

Hardscaping, Fencing, and Livestock Enclosures

In open basins, patios, walls, and fences do a lot of work. They shape your space, make it more useful, and shelter you from the wind.

Hardscaping and Stonework

A good patio or courtyard gives you a sheltered spot to relax and entertain. We build:

We think about wind, drainage, and access when we choose locations and materials. A patio should sit where you’ll actually use it, not just where it looks good on a plan.

Water Systems

Irrigation, Wells, and Drainage

Irrigation in rural Northern New Mexico has to work around well capacity, long distances, pressure loss, and the seasons.

Our irrigation services include:

Drip irrigation is often the practical choice. It puts water right at the plant roots, so less is lost to evaporation and wind.

Drainage matters just as much. Heavy monsoon rain runs fast over bare ground. It can wash out gravel, erode soil, and send water toward your foundation.

Depending on the property, we might use grading, swales, French drains, or dry creek beds to move runoff away and protect your buildings.

Ongoing Care

Landscape Maintenance in Galisteo

Even a low-maintenance landscape needs some attention. Wind, weeds, and seasonal storms can change a site quickly.

Evergreen Landscape Pros offers ongoing maintenance and restoration, including:

A little regular care protects your investment, keeps small problems from turning into expensive repairs, and keeps your property looking good all year.

Dark Skies

Outdoor Lighting That Respects the Night Sky

The night sky is a big part of what people love about the Galisteo Basin. Outdoor lighting should help you see and stay safe without adding glare or light pollution.

We recommend lighting plans with:

These choices keep your outdoor spaces usable while protecting the night sky and being considerate of your neighbors. Check local lighting rules before installing.

Investment

What Does Landscaping Cost in Galisteo?

Cost depends on property size, site conditions, materials, and the scope of work. On larger rural parcels, it often works best to start with the areas you use most and add other improvements in phases.

What Affects Your Estimate?

Treated area

How much land gets new landscaping and how much stays native.

Water availability

Your well's capacity shapes the irrigation design and what the system needs.

Hardscape materials

Patios, walls, and walkways cost differently in labor and materials than planting does.

Site access

Long driveways, unpaved roads, and delivery distances affect scheduling and setup costs.

Ground conditions

Rock, caliche, and slopes can mean more excavation.

Plant selection

Larger plants cost more up front but look established sooner.

Fencing

Total footage, materials, gates, and livestock needs all change the estimate.

Project phasing

Doing the work in stages spreads the cost over time.

Evergreen Landscape Pros gives free, itemized written estimates after an on-site consultation. We can also help you decide what to do first so your budget goes further.

We needed a complete overhaul of our front and backyard and Evergreen Landscape Pros delivered in every way. Knowing how challenging Santa Fe's high desert climate can be, we needed a team that truly understood the environment — and they did. They designed a stunning drought-tolerant landscape with beautiful stonework, native plants, and a fully integrated irrigation system perfectly suited to our surroundings. The crew was practiced, punctual, and clearly passionate about what they do. Our property looks completely transformed and we couldn't be happier with the result!

I have 10 years of experience as a residential builder and have worked with many landscaping companies/ subcontractors. Evergreen/ Three R are the best I’ve done business with. Renee is extremely knowledgeable about his trade. For detailed design elements I often deferred to his expertise in regards to details which fell within our general layout and the results exceeded our expectations. Don’t be dissuaded by some of the other reviews. It is important to know what you want and to communicate clearly and confirm design features are being implemented during the course of any large project. If that isn’t for you, there are companies which will charge you much more to have a designer (salesman) hold your hand. However, if you approach your project seriously, communicate clearly and listen to the advice of the experts doing the work you will be much happier with the result.

It became clear how much better the yard looked once their landscape lighting was in place. The plants and stone areas have a softer look after sunset.

Questions

Galisteo Landscaping FAQs

Yes. We serve Galisteo and nearby communities, including Lamy, Cerrillos, Madrid, Eldorado, and Stanley. Our Santa Fe team regularly travels across the basin for consultations, installations, and maintenance.

It depends on your well’s yield and how quickly it recovers. We design irrigation around the water you have, usually keeping irrigated areas close to the house and using native or drought-tolerant plants everywhere else. We can talk through your well’s capacity during the on-site consultation.

Native and adapted plants like chamisa, four-wing saltbush, Apache plume, blue grama, penstemon, and winterfat are good options, depending on soil, exposure, and elevation. Keeping healthy piñon and juniper is also a big part of many landscape plans.

We think about wind when we place patios, choose fencing, and plan planting areas. Courtyard walls can create sheltered spots, while coyote and latilla fencing let some air through. Young trees may need staking while they get established.

Yes. We install corrals, paddock fencing, gates, and custom enclosures for rural properties. The design and materials depend on the animals, your layout, equipment access, and whether you also need to keep wildlife out.

Some older properties and historic areas have rules about materials, height, or appearance. Requirements vary by property, so check the applicable guidelines before you begin construction.

Yes, with the right planning. Traditional adobe needs different fastening methods than modern framing or masonry. We take the wall’s construction into account, and we can use independent supports when attaching directly isn’t a good idea.

Shielded, low-level fixtures with warm light usually work well for paths, entrances, and outdoor living areas. Timers and motion sensors save energy and reduce unnecessary light pollution.

Cost depends on the area you’re landscaping, the materials, irrigation needs, access, site conditions, and project complexity. We give free, itemized written estimates after visiting your property, and we can suggest phased improvements when that makes sense.

Call Evergreen Landscape Pros at (505) 375-6901 or send in an online estimate request. We’ll talk through your goals, review your property, and provide a written proposal at no cost or obligation.
